The Best Time of the Year

Too much reading and too much writing leads to too much drinking.

The day of the week-and-and-a-half "push" is upon us.

With two 10-page papers, and a media convergence assignment (in which a roughly 1800 words of text are required), all due on the 7th of May, the first day of work starting tomorrow, panic is simmering. We're going back to work, this time permanently, instead of seasonally. Hurrah! It will be relieving one aspect of stress (financial), but adding another (loss of time). The amount of final projects for this semester are astounding, the amount of reading and writing is, and was, absurd. If the pages written were compiled, it would be book length, easy.

Today was spend reading the second section of David P. Lynch's True to Life: Why Truth Matters. And boy, is that a dry bone. Meanwhile we managed too eek out 4 pages of reflection (last week's section garnered six). It's been hard to stay on focus, so much reading and writing - and it's all different subjects: from political science to journalism pieces [on a local event/happening] to philosophy to interpersonal communications. From one to another to another and by the end...it feels impossible that we could have absorbed as much as we should have. But the end of the semester is so close, we can almost touch it with out tongue...for the next couple of weeks we just need to bare down and plow through and hold tight to sanity.

The stretcher strips are waiting to be draped in canvas (we have a planned series of paintings for the summer); tomorrow the potato seeds arrive, which means it's almost time for planting, and the dark inviting soil of the garden will be bearing produce in no time. Inventive recipes from what is pulled from her will be part and parcel of this summers blog postings (you're thrilled, surely) just to get the value out of the culinary degree laying waste in our brain. Soon it will be time to hit the lakes and rivers and catch some fish. There are books to read (some in preparation for next semester) and things to write. And of course work.

And let's not forget summer guests and the Toronto Tweetup in June.

Summer is the best time of year, obviously, we are at our most creative and energetic. Hopefully we arrive in it with sanity intact and ready to suck the marrow, because before we know it, next Semester will baring its ugly head. I hate to be prideful, but I'm pretty proud that we've made it through the last two semesters with very few major mental health issues, it wasn't always easy, but hopefully it will continue to trend.

The Best Day This Year

We got rehired for the seasonal part-time job from last summer but they've made it a permanent position and it comes with $1/hour pay raise.

This marks this first time a company has made us feel valuable. They like our work, as menial as the job may be. But more importantly, they like who we are when we come to work - flirty, mouthy, bitchy, opinionated, sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sensitive, funny, moody...even more, they don't even bat an eye at the inconsistency.

We're totally employable! They like us. They really like us!

In addition, we received word today that we have been awarded not one, but two scholarships from the University, from the department in which we're majoring, for the next two semesters (our last year). No word on the amount, but every little bit helps. This is the first time in our 6+ years of higher education we have ever applied for a scholarship, and we have one of our favorite (female)  instructors to thank for the last minute urging to at least try. (We weren't going to because the "popular vote" was that it felt too much like "begging" by writing a letter saying why "I" deserved free money).

So now the last two weeks of classes (which is when the first day of work starts) will be a total crunch, what with work and all the final projects and exams, but it will be worth it because we can finally stop living off of the savings account for good, which will relieve some major underlying stress that is causing some strange/unusual reactions - waking up feeling strangely hollow and empty, having a hard time moving, feeling like nobody is operating this body and it's just on auto-pilot. At least we think it might be related to that stress.

So, all in all this is probably the best day this year. Have to say, waking up this morning, it didn't feel like it would be.

Some Sort of Ranting

Got a two week extension on our employment contract...if we could just get three more added to it...it would be so much better (financially). Then we'll only be "laid-off" for five months, instead of six. *fingers crossed*

Should be finding out about our grade on the (communication) quiz we took last Thursday. For some reason we were "lucky" enough to be a glitch in the system, and our grade is "lost". The professor is looking into it...
It's extremely frustrating because we tend to be very anal retentive about waiting for our grades. We've checked several times a day, every day after the quiz just waiting for it.
We don't test well, and so we have anxiety about it, and to quell the anxiety we NEED TO KNOW THE GRADE A.S.A.P.(!) but no...it came through the system as a 0%! So we send an e-mail to the professor about it, stating "I am fairly confident that I did better than that"...
I am very anxious for tomorrow to find out what we got.
We did not do well on the Atmospheric Science (meteorology) test done the same week (scoring only a 76%, which, for an A-high-B student...is...alarming...so...yeah...

We're running ourselves ragged trying to write a paper (done and due Friday!), do all the homework, go to classes, go to work, the bloody (that's British for "fucking")...cooking, trying to keep the kitchen clean (the fruit flies are insane right now)...plus working out when we can (four times a week on the corsstrainer) and mainting some semblance of "happy time" or "alone time"...

After Wednesdays we are fried.
All day, from waking to just before sleep, countless people are talking at us, with us, to us, around us...there's so much noise and so many people. We go to work, then we go to two classes, then we go back to work, then we go to another class...that's around three hours long...then we drive 40 minutes home. The day is too much for our head...too much...but there's only about eleven of them left...

...anyway.

The paper to be turned in on Friday is awesome, so we'll probably end up posting it after it has been graded. Aren't. You. Fucking. Lucky.

Weekly Update

This week:
A paper (2nd draft w.i.p.)
One quiz.
Two tests.

Homework.

Work.

We've managed to hop on the elliptical a bit, just to try to cull some mental balance.

...

Word is our contract for work may be extended two weeks to a month, depending. So, by around Thanksgiving we'll have time to write about all the mental breakdowns we've been having, (ugly, ugly, ugly)...the headaches...the problems...

Meanwhile.

All of our creative juices have been limited to 140 characters.
Thank goodness they are being stored in the Library of Congress (and downloaded periodically to our computer via Twitter archives) so we won't have lost any of our poetry that only exists on Twitter.

Now...back to it.

Stress Ramble Rumble

We're starting to stress out about University classes, and the thought of trying to juggle them with working (until October 15th), and a personal life.

We can hear people go "Oh, well I took 18 credits and worked full time [and walked up a fucking hill both ways in the snow wearing cats on my feet and no pants just to get there] PLUS got straight A's!":...but guess what, we're not you. Not a single one of us are you. Nobody should ever expect people to be like them...(we're always trying to remind each other of that...)

It doesn't help that over an hour a day will be devoted to driving back and forth from home to school/work.

WHEN WILL WE DO THE HOMEWORK?!
(last time we went to University we didn't work, just devoted time to studying)

Maybe there's some sort of hands free app assistant (Dragon, perhaps, for writing papers on the go), or audio version of our textbooks, that we can use while we drive just to squeeze in an hour of homework on the way home.

We're just trying not to stress about University...just yet; except that most of the financial aid info hasn't cleared yet, so we might not be able to afford it...and that'll be NO GOOD.

Anyway, a beautiful (hopefully) summer upon us, we've been sticking to our workout routine pretty well (which is totally helping our mental state, in general), we've got 3/4 of the gardens planted, and have a couple of summer trips planned (We leave Wednesday evening for the London Ontario Tweetup!)...oh, and fishing!!! So let's just find the balance and blow out all the stress...for now.

Randomness...

We left the house today, and walked to the post office.
For an hour before we left, at least, and for the first 5 minutes out the door, we felt like we wanted to curl into a ball, cry and scream. Our chest felt heavy, an uncomfortable rage was welling inside. We wanted to vomit angrily.

It passed, but the feeling up until it did made us...there is no real words to explain it passed what we just did.
Why does it have to feel like that sometimes?

Our chest, back, and shoulders held a lot of pain today. It physically hurt to breath and move for most of the afternoon. It didn't stop us from our elliptical workout, but it made it less enjoyable.

We start our new job on Monday...

We're not nervous...not really. It's not nervous, this feeling...it's...

A Little Bitty Irrelevant Update

Last Friday night we registered for our Fall courses for University*.

We're pretty excited to be going back and finishing this specific degree (Communications); and a bit nervous, but only because of the balancing of a Full Time class schedule (plus homework, a relationship, and housework), and hopefully Part Time work.

That's a lot of human interaction on a regular basis. And stress. (Welcome, anxiety).

Wait, so what can you do with a Communications Degree anyway? Sounds like a bullshit degree, right?
Turns out there's a lot, and a lot of them piqued our interest, so, fine, more decisions to make.
Here's a sample of a few things we can do once we fill in the gaps and finish our degree: Print Journalism, Media Relations, Broadcasting, Jobs in Social Media Management, Public Relations, Human Resources, Advertising/Marketing, Lobbying, Speech Writing, Graphic Arts/Visual Communications  Writer...the list literally goes on and on...

Anyway.

We have an interview on Thursday, a second one, a followup on a phone interview we had a couple of weeks ago when we went to Minneapolis with James. *fingers crossed*
The job is flexible, and seasonal (6 months) so it's pretty perfect right now.

That's it, just this little update while we work on other things, like painting, and some researched entries...and wasting time doing the other things we do.

------------------------------------------------
*The classes - we might try to add another, we're not sure yet:
- Meteorology I w/ Lab (to fulfill GER [General Education Requirements] science credits)
- Information, Technology and Social Change (required)
- Technology and Change (required)
- College Composition II (required)

Something

Backache that is making our eyes burn, cold and hollow in their sockets.

It started Saturday night as body pain, it hurt to have our skin even lightly touched, and we could feel our bones. This morning we went to work and it grew worse, now it's everything that hurts.

Since getting home from work we've spent every minute with a hot water bottle and a glorious fleece blanket, on the sofa.

Now we've poured a Gin, in hopes the pain subsidies and it makes us sleepy enough to pass out at a reasonable hour and sleep through the night, after tossing and turning last night until 4:30 am from the discomfort and pain.

Today was our apparent last day of work though, with suggestions that they may call us in for a couple more days the end of the week, or at least before New Years Day. We'll see. Of course we'll do it; we could use the extra income.

It's Christmas Eve. We're not really into Christmas (most of us anyway...Gifts make many of us uncomfortable. They make me uncomfortable, anyway), but Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday anyway.

Apologies for the very lame entry. Or something.

Testing...Testing...One...Two...

James got a job today.
A pretty good paying one too.

Meaning if we can't find a house to buy within a month, we'll still be moving out of here (The Mothers house)...only into an apartment instead, for a bit.

Our last day of work is Monday. It was temporary, so expected. That's okay.

We wrote this tonight...because we want to see if it will stick (granted it's a done deal...he only needs pass a drug test...and he doesn't do drugs).
But.
Seems like everything good and promising we've written about here this year has turned to shit.

Testing...testing...one...two...

Alone, To Be Desired

One week of work left, then hopefully we'll have some time to devote to writing while we look for another job - which we have been doing for weeks now with no luck. There are only about three new part-time postings in this city a week, and for right now we're only prepared to work part-time (for physical, and mental health, reasons).

It's been hard to find time to write, and we have some things we need to get down on paper. Relationship related things...

Needless to say, every day has been a bumpy ride these days. Clashes in relationship-styles are coming to a head; primarily our desire for alone time not being adequately met (in most of our opinions) without an expression of passive-aggressive anger; whether is be on purpose, or not. If a request is met with snarkily served up comment like "subtle", or similar...or a tone of voice that is meant to convey dissatisfaction, then one can only be led to believe it is on purpose. And meant to make us feel guilty.

If James has his way he would be with us every minute possible. We rarely even shower without him.

From our side of things, we are uncomfortable always being in a room with someone, and it's not so that we can do anything bad, mostly it's just a desire to sit in a room, alone. Undistracted  With nobody in "our space". We like being alone; as a matter of fact, many of us love it. People are distracting to many of us, just their presence can be too much, makes up feel angry, makes our head pound, makes our eyes burn, makes our jaw clench. They don't even have to be saying anything. Hearing them walk, breath...smelling them.

He doesn't understand it. Probably you don't either.

Not to mention, even when we get 10-30 minutes alone, The Mother, or Step-dad, walks through the room, and they always have something to say, most of the time that's not important. Talking for the sake of talking. Sometimes it can take 15 minutes for them to day it, because they repeat themselves.

He understands that, at least.

He doesn't think it's normal, or healthy, that we desire just to be in a room without him, without anyone but ourselves. We explained to him that couples do that, that they don't spend every moment together. They don't do everything together. He thinks that's not healthy somehow, for relationships to be like that. He thinks it's odd that we want, sometimes, hours of time alone (even if it's just to play "alone" on Twitter and watch the news); that it should be just fine for him to sit next to us all the time, and do his own thing. That we are odd for thinking that it's not the same as being alone.

There are other things too...other things for another day. Mostly things in response to his most recent blog post about life with us (http://frank-from-the-outside.blogspot.com/2012/12/changes-and-changes-and-nothing-changes.html), but for now...for now the major problem is...we guess...that he we don't want to spend every waking minute with anybody. We already do that with many, and have no choice.

Pain

Somewhere between the second drink, and the last, is the sweet spot of no pain.

Like a never ending search, but nary found. No pain pill has ever helped, over the counter, in any case.

Worked only three and a half hours today. Two in, the burning...searing pain...rubbing the neck on the few seconds break we had, moments of relief. Then gone.

Today work exhausted us, we couldn't make it to the gym after work...could barely walk through the front door.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Waiting

Still employed (19 days left because it's seasonal).

Still living with The Mother and Step-dad, but looking for houses in this city now, instead of fixer-uppers in the country (the market is tight here), because it's winter, and the Midwest winter is not a good time to buy a "fixer-upper". James needs to get work, and we need to get a job after this one, and need to get a place of our own.

Still...just...feeling like we're in limbo.
Waiting.
For something.
Waiting.
For everything.
And nothing.
That's life though, right?...

This kind of waiting life is new to us. This kind of limbo is new to us. We usually just push forward...

Hopefully we don't go "stale", just waiting...

Job Interview

We have a job interview tomorrow!
It's only for part-time holiday work though.
Still, we're freaking out.
What if we say something stupid, or inappropriate.
What if we're too overqualified (trust us, you wouldn't think it, but we are overqualified for a lot of jobs in our field/range of "skills").
What if we wear something too dressy, and not casual enough for the region.
What if, what if, what if...

OMG, it's going to be mortifying.
*fingers crossed*

We Ramble...Haven't We Done This Before?

We're in an terrible bad mood...bordering on evil. Some days we like it, some days we don't. Today it's mixed with anxiety, and anger... frustration...and a feeling of impending doom. We woke up with, and spent most of the day with, some wicked headaches.

We didn't write yesterday, we know. Instead we played a ToD (That's Tweet of the Day - it's a Favstar thing <-that link takes you to Favstar) on Twitter with our friends & followers, and played a couple of races on Mario Kart (we bought a Wii last weekend!) - meanwhile...there is info over to the right, we're going to add all of our user ID's (for each game, that is) so our online friends (almost the only friends we have) can play some Wi-Fi enabled games with us - the list of what we have so far is over there on the right, below the Bloggers Choice voting spot.

Speaking of The Bloggers Choice Awards, if you have a minute, could you vote for our blog? In as many categories as you see fit (there are four that fit our blog)? It would be pretty cool...though the competition is stiff...and we have no idea how to generate votes yet. Maybe next year...or in a couple of weeks, when we move; yeah, we're moving, we've written all over the blog about it the last couple of weeks...check out some of our recent writing and find out about from where, why; and to where...or generally to where [we're not ready to admit/reveal our location(s)]...and we're going to go on an adventure next year...lots of changes, lots of changes...

Speaking of, our doomed feeling is being facilitated by The Boyfriend...who is totally freaking/stressing out about us moving him to the states with us in a few weeks...it looks like it's going to be a lot of work...or work around...a headache really. He's worried they won't even let him in the first time, for three months, let alone ever and for any real length of time.

We're trying to keep him calm, but it's hard, you know? We have a lot of stress, we have to evict our tenants, who we wrote about on Sunday...sometime in the next couple of days. We were told we are only required to give them 24 hour notice, due to a month-to-month lease and them not paying their entire rent for the past two months; but likely we'll give them a week. We also hope to be able to get a police escort to the house to serve the papers...if you've read about Sunday you know why.

Good news though, the police recovered our video camera that the last tenant stole and tried to pawn, unfortunately none of the other things that were stolen, like our paintings and power tools... Sadly we found out the backdoor of the house that's been broken since the previous tenant took off was broken by the cops in a search warrant raid...something about drugs. In any case that means the city should be responsible for fixing that, hopefully...but also means we're going to have to go talk to some city official. This is stressful. This is all stressful.

Friday is our last day of work, holy shit are we excited about that, but then we have loads and loads of stuff to do, utilities to cancel on two properties, a real estate agent to hire, the house to clean...and fix...because the low lifes who have lived there in the last year have turned the place to a shit hole; plus packing up our apartment...getting the medical papers for the cats in order...we have a huge list (that we've been working on while we work).

So...we don't know. We're like an anxiety attack waiting to happen...no side of panic. Panic isn't our thing...at least I don't think so; it's not mine anyway.

Our system mix today/onight is erratic...we're going to go do some shopping (printer ink)...and maybe order pizza...not particularly hungry, but we haven't eaten much today...

~Catherine & Sam (and we're "et al" like crazy tonight...we feel bad for James/The Boyfriend)

How We Turned Roast Beef Into An Apple Fritter

*drool*
This is just a fluff piece...but you know, not a porn fluff piece. Yeah. We didn't all think that was funny either.

Today at work we learned a lesson. Wait. Lesson? Maybe. In so much as we know how shit works, but this time we put the theory to the test.

We turned roast beef into an apple fritter.

What?!

Yep. We sure did.

We work around a huge array of foods; different departments in our work place make different foods...all departments share one dishwasher though.

The dishwasher pretty much has run of the food being made, always sneaking buiscuits and bacon, donuts, muffins, whatever he pleases. Why? That's how it works...despite what people realize, one of the most important people in a kitchen is the dishwasher. A top quality one anyway; and as such he gets treated well, if his fellow employees are smart, and not full of themselves.

Why, you ask, is the dishwasher important?

For one, the dishwasher does the shittiest job, cleaning up after morons (us included) who don't have to worry about using too many dishes, don't think twice about how much of the dishpit fills up with pots, pans, hotel pans, bowls, utensils, dirty equipment; in addition to dealing with the mindless cooks, the dishwasher knows where shit is. You need the measuring cup...the ONE that an entire staff shares for some stupid reason (why is there not more than one in that fucking kitchen?!)? The dishwasher knows where it is.

We know this first hand because we searched on and off one day last week when we needed the measuring cup to make creme brule, and the dishwasher was off sick. So while the dirty dishes piled in the dish pit (it wasn't in the pit though)...we unsucessfully tried locating the measuring cup. The next day dishwasher was there, we inquired about the measuring cup and he took us to it, the place where he figured the evening dishwashers probably put it.

See, they are important. They know where everything you need is located.

Today we were shaving a baron of roast beef - (a large, important section of beef containing both sirloins, or rather a giant cut of good quality roast) - this one was about 10lbs, after cooking. Anyway, we decided to try an experiment today...and so we took a few nice thinly shaved sliced of fresh roast beef over to the dish pit.

"Psst" we said, and the dishwasher turned to see us set the roast beef on the drying rack.
"Thanks sweetie!" he says, all smiles, and later he told us about how he had took the beef, some mustard and a biscuit, and made himself a tasty sandwich.

He's watched us eye the donuts a lot at work over the past few weeks, trying to encourage us to partake (which is techinically theft, so we don't because donuts is not our department) and we always decide not to, because we also don't want to ask the guy, or the woman, who make the donuts, if we can have one for free...we don't like "begging"... or "asking for things".

So today, after sharing roast beef with the dishwasher, he saw us eyeing up the apple fritters in the rack to be sent to the sale floor, we started to reach for one, then pulled our hand back. He saw us do it and tried to get us to take one, we shook our head to indicate we were not going to, so he went ahead and asked the donut maker for us, asking her if it would be alright if we had one.

Of course it was, and so we got to eat our first free donut at work.

What a lame story, right? But if you think about it, it's really a story about scratching each others back, and "who you know"...even if you are only a lowly kitchen worker; and sometimes you should be nice, because nice things can come back to you....even if it's just an apple fritter (just an apple fritter?! Who said that?!)

Have a happy Friday, friends and readers...we're off to do a little public drinking, shopping and going out to eat ... somewhere. It's still up for debate. When you cook professionally, and are educated in food costing, it's an exhauting thing to decide where to eat, where to put your hard earned cash, when you know what the raw materials cost, and what pay cooks make in the city where you live...and realize that the people doing the hardest work are not the ones making any profit...and are barely scratching by...but probably on drugs, and drinking heavily with whatever is left over.

We Put In Our Three Weeks Notice

Okay, so we never got the three weeks notice/resignation in...we ran out of time on Friday to bring it to the "boss". We will on Monday though...

So, yesterday, aside from saying goodbye to Fuck Face quite unexpectedly…we also had a hell of a day at work.

About three days ago the one guy we work with in our kitchen station got upset, because when we leaned down to get something out of the fridge by his knee, in the thick of rush service, we put our hand on his side to let him know we were there. He jumped to the side, partially tripped over our kitchen clog, got angry and wore because he thought we were pushing him.

First, anyone who knows how a hotline in a kitchen works when you are getting slammed knows you are moving around very quickly, and it is not unheard of to put your hand on someone to let them know you are there, especially if you need them to move aside and you don’t want to risk any “below the waist touching” on accident. Plus, what could we gain from pushing him in the middle of a rush? Ignorant little twat.

So we could tell something was up because he wasn’t friendly or nice to us for the next two days. Which is fine, because we are leaving in three weeks, and fuck him, he’s a stupid kid; we just want to get our job done, make it through the day and get the fuck away from people.

Then yesterday we were going to put in our three week notice because we have not heard anything about the paperwork/short form they tried to push through last minute and we wanted to make sure we end this job right (because we never have before) in case we make it back to this city with a valid work permit, and want to be employed.  We’re pretty much the master at walking off of a job with no explanation.

But then the sous chef (the sous chef in a kitchen is the one who is right under the chef as far as kitchen management goes) took our station partner to his office while we were cleaning up at the end of service, and following that he took us aside, sitting us down in his “office”, which is just one are of the building where donuts are sold, right off of the kitchen.

The first thing he asked was about us saying something on the hotline.

“Did you look at a bill and say ‘god damn chicken’?” (a “bill” is the receipt/written slip of paper that has the order on it)

He could see the shock and confusion on our face. We, at that point, and still, don’t remember saying it.

“No. Did I say that?”

He responded with a “never mind”.

It’s possible, we figure…but also, if it was our kitchen partner, or someone in the vicinity that “complained” it could have been a misunderstanding and us saying “I’ve got tha chicken”. We remember saying that this week during service, to indicate we were going to put the chicken in. Don’t know how we remember such a small detail…but we do.

Then he asked if we had any pain.

We just stared at him for a moment.

“This is all off the record” he said to us, in his Sri Lanken accent. “I’ve just noticed some days you move in the kitchen like you are having pain.”

So we tell him about our back, share with him brief details, but not excessive amounts, about the car accident, tell him about how one of the instructors in culinary school (one he knows because he had graduated the year before us in school) said we wouldn’t last 10 years in the kitchen. A tear came to our eye when we say “So far it’s been 7 years since the accident”

He agrees that it’s sad; he knows we love cooking, we are good at it. He loves food and cooking just as much.

We continue to talk and he tells us that we are a nice person, and friendly, but sometimes when he looks at us, he sees something…”There is something going on in there” he said to us.

All we think is “crap” and “If you only knew” and then…we’re even more sad. We’ve only been at this job for 5 weeks, we’ve tried to put our head down and work, get the job done…during service we are focused as we can be…but, it comes off as bitchy. And sometimes we bitchy.

He is far too perceptive we suppose…he references mood as we being to talk, asking about anything in our personal life, we explain to him it’s probably the back pain.

Basically he likes us working in the kitchen though; he wishes we were not leaving. He’s just concerned about our back, and also agrees that sometimes that might be why we are short with people, because of all the pain. But we also know that sometimes we are a bitch, even though we try to control that from happening.

He only knows half the story, and it’s okay. We’ll be one from there soon…and we can try again at another job, we suppose.

We discuss other problems in the kitchen, which we site, and he agrees, as communication problems. The meeting ended well, he shared stories about what he had done before culinary school. A nice guy and we are fortunate to have him as a sous chef for the next few weeks.

So, we were stressed even before meeting with Fuck Face for drinks last night, but then that took it to a whole new level.

We told James we don’t think we will ever be able to have a job, all of us, together…and we don’t know how to do about it. We need to find some online work, so we can work where people can’t see our eyes, our face….the thing that gives us all away; it’s impossible for us to hide anymore.

We’re no good with real life situations…and it’s okay, because we prefer the life we have (livesd mostly behind closed doors), if we could only make money to live not working with people…because it’s so difficult, it hurts. We get so many headaches at work these days…and our back literally feels like someone is setting it on fire on a daily basis now.

So, that’s the conclusion of our week. If we were staying at this job we’d probably get fired down the road, that’s clear now…so it’s a good thing we are moving away from this city. We also said goodbye to Special Someone on Thursday, and yesterday Fuck Face told us he loves us, after all this time, and that he always has.

It’s no wonder we drink, and amazing we don’t drink more.

Struggle...Exhaustion

We had a struggle of a day so we could do a good job at work...it's been that way all week.

We must have done a good job this week because we get to stay in our post another week (we made the new schedule for our "department"), even though last Friday the "boss" said he'd give us one more week to prove we can work where we are, at an adequate speed, and not get relocated to another department. We like where we are, the regular hours, the work (even though it hurts us physically), the creative freedom.

This meant a lot of headaches all week, and a lot today, as we had a couple of things to complete and we had to struggle to keep the ones who are good at cooking around. In the end we succeeded...Boss #2 called us the "chowder queen" as we made an extremely tasty Manhattan chowder, and have made great chowders four Fridays in a row.

When in culinary school (we're going to write more about that soon, in addition to what we've already written about culinary school), as well as in other jobs, a word that came up a lot was our lack of consistency in being good at what we do. We're not all good at the same stuff, and it shows, and to the outside world it just looks like inconsistency, or like we are "air-brained"...you know the other words that apply. We're "eccentric"...at least that's what it looks like from the outside...it we try really hard we can maintain a damn good job for periods of time (but with more headaches)...but if we are stressed...not so much...and that shows.

That's all our blog post is tonight...we've been having a lot of headaches at work this week, we're a little stressed out being in limbo...and about maybe having to move...and it's Friday. We haven't slept well this week...hopefully tomorrow will be the day we can get some real sleep.

Until then...

It's a Friday review....here are some of the stuff we've written that we recommend...don't know us? You should probably read...or not. We really don't care...seriously. we don't want to tell you what to fucking do.

Some of our writing on this blog we like to promote (consider them highlights), these are those entries since mid-January 2011. There are bits of writing in this blog that we do not actually promote due to embarrassment over things that some have written - they are here for our own tracking - they are angry, mean, scary things. If you feel like it you can find them on your own (they are in the What We've Been Up To over on the left). Here are the highlights of what we have written so far this year. There are some repeated under different subjects because some blog entries deal with more than one subject matter.
