We're In Love With a Chair...

This is not an advertisement, we are not being paid to talk about or promote this product.

It's a chair.
(<- not that chair)

As many may know we several permanent and degenerative back and spine problems from a terrible collision with a semi-truck on an interstate in '04, followed by terrible medical care. So back pain is a plaguing problem every day, some days worse than others. Pain killers are ineffective, and we can't afford the massage therapy required to ease much of the pain, or some of the causes of it.
However, this doesn't prevent us from being physically active...we work out a lot (about 5 hours total a week), we lift things, sling things, skin and butcher deer ('tis the season)...in between sitting on our ass doing nothing.
These activities are not without their additional tole on the back, spine and muscles.

At the university we are attending there is a private quiet meditation room free for students to use for 15 minutes (or more, if nobody is waiting) to provide some quiet time to relax and de-stress.
In this room is the most wonderful chair in the world.
A massage chair.

We got a little freaked out the first time we used it, when the massage portion that works on your skull. It actually feels like human fingers (THERE ARE LITTLE PEOPLE SEWN INTO THE CHAIR!! [not really]).

The whole experience is...amazing. At a price of $3000 dollars it better be. Thankfully we have free use of it whenever we're on campus, for at least the next 1.5-2 years; but, you know...if you're looking to buy your favourite bloggers a Christmas gift...;-)

The love for this chair, that gave us a massage without any perceived reluctance, expectations of payment or...expectations of anything else...got us thinking.

What with all the "tools for single life" (yeah, we're talking sex toys, for the..."single people")...and this chair...and social media for "companionship"...who really needs dating anymore...

Ha! We jest...but not about that chair.
We're going to file for a marriage licence.

Alteration Frustration

Met with our academic adviser today, and was told we had to swap a class we were exited about (schedule conflict).The swap = 'Social Psychology' for 'Business and Technical Writing'.
It's total horseshit because:
A) in high school we opted out of 12th grade English to take Writing for Technologies (same thing, basically, as Business and Technical Writing)...but you know...that was...*gulp* seventeen (what?!) years ago...so apparently that doesn't count now?
B) we can write...in a lot of different ways, and with professional discretion...even drunk! (Shocking...right?)

It's total crap that we have to take that class.
Why do we care?
It's another 3 credit course away from being done.
Not that it wouldn't be great to be a student forever. Learning is fucking awesome. Homework, writing papers, reading, going to lecture classes...is amazing...but for the being "poor" (no student is making "mad cash") part.

Somehow our academic adviser doesn't realize that leaving this state, for another one, or another country, is top priority...he seems to think because it took himself 30+ years to finish his double-major...that somehow that should be our standard. Ugh.

What a single alteration of one class registration might mean, is a postponing of graduation...a nearly 5 month delay. It may not seem like a lot...but as the years go by, 5 months (plus, possibly, a a summer break in between) can feel...terrible.

So...yeah...
That was the peak of the day.

Spring Semester Courses...and some rambling...

It's official...Spring Semester 2014 classes have been registered for...already. We will be taking...*drum roll*...

- Introduction to Media Writing (gonna be a total breeze)
- Interpersonal Communication (the study of communication between two or more people, a.k.a. small group communication , self-expression and how people present themselves and perceive others...)
- Knowledge, Truth and Reality (interdisciplinary exploration of the nature of knowledge, truth, and reality from the perspectives of science, philosophy, and religion)
- American Political Thought (Political Science course on the historical analysis of major thinkers and of the streams of thought which molded United States political life and institutions from the Puritans to the present)
- Social Psychology (Researching individual behavior in its social context: how the individual acts upon social environments, and interacts with other individuals)

It's a full schedule...but at least we won't have to take a fucking science class ever again *fingers crossed* as long as we pass Meteorology.

It's nice being recently laid-off for the winter (5 months), but somehow it's translating into some real procrastination...apparently we need more structure (?). However, it has given time to focus on some health stuff, so we plunged-in and started going to the gym on campus, because our home elliptical machine doesn't seem to be enough. We have gotten...uncomfortably "heavy"...weight has always been a struggle, and this year it has been predominate. It's been affecting our mental balance.

So, recently we stumbled upon...the greatest Puppet "Muppets" ever.
That's right...
Fafa and Mario of Glove and Boots (but don't forget Gorilla!).

They are...amazing. It's like if Henson's Muppets were allowed to grow up...or went to college and did some drugs.

There's really nothing more we can say, you just have to see...

It's about a 3.8-3.9 GPA so far. To sustain it would be glorious.

Realistically we'll be maintaining everything but the meteorology grades, but now that we've been laid off for the winter we have extra time for studying and getting ready for the comprehensive final exam (*gulps*)...we might be able to pull the two Meteorology grades into comfortable territory and keep them. Here's hoping.

We've been holding it together pretty good so far, mentally.

With the semester on the down-slide, they're piling the homework on now. There are three more papers (now that the second one had been submitted for grading) due, a speech nearly every week, continued assignments and exams...the week of December 16th is Finals Week...we can see it on the horizon. Six short weeks and then we have a month of nothing but writing, painting, baking, cooking, decompressing and getting ready for Spring Semester...which is going to be full up 300/400 level classes...if we get the schedule we want. Oh, and drinking...we might do a bit of drinking...hahahahaaaaaaaaaa!
Oh, and then there's the mental breakdown on the back-burner...
